The previously announced Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi (The Story of the Girl Who Couldn’t Become a Wizard) anime has released a teaser visual and first trailer ahead of its premiere this October. Studio JC Staff is animating the series.
Takashi Watanabe will serve as the chief director, with Masato Matsune assisting. Hiroko Kanasugi is writing the scripts, with Mai Matsura designing the characters based on the original designs by Lily Hoshino. Yoko Shimomura is composing the music. The main cast for the anime includes Hana Hishikawa as Kurumi Mirai and Misuzu Yamada as Yuzu Edel.
The Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi anime was first announced in October 2018 as part of the winning titles for the “Another World/Fantasy” category of Project Anima. It was initially slated for debut in 2021, but was moved to this year for unknown reasons.
The title is based on a web novel written by Yuzuki Akasaka, which was published by Everystar from March 2018 to September 2019. It was then submitted to Project Anima, an industry collaboration between DeNA, Sotsu, and Bunka Housou(JOQR) that accepted stories from the general public for potential anime adaptations.
The official anime website lists the series’ synopsis as follows:
Kurumi Mirai is a clumsy girl who longs to become a wizard,
and Yuzu Edel is the daughter of a noble family
that has been turning out wizards for generations.
To become a wizard, they must enter Rettoran academy of witchcraft and wizardry.
However, both couldn’t pass the entrance exam……, but⁉︎
Minami Suzuki, the looks of a child but great magician, appears as homeroom teacher, and their school life takes a sudden turn!
Mysterious classmate, strange club……What’s the secret hidden in this school⁉︎
